Chrome. Captascreen's three-window architecture uses Blob URL popups and window positioning that only Chrome supports reliably. Firefox and Safari will not work.

If Chrome is not your default browser, download it here, then right-click the Captascreen file and choose Open With — Google Chrome.
Download the HTML file. Open it in Chrome — double-click, or right-click and choose Open With — Google Chrome. The app loads immediately. No install, no account, no setup. Your first visit creates a local database for your project data, stored only on your machine.

From the hosted version at captascreen.com: open captascreen-lite.html or captascreen-pro.html in Chrome. Look for the install icon in the address bar — a small screen or download icon. Click it and confirm. Captascreen installs to your dock and runs in its own window with no browser chrome, no tabs, no distractions.

To self-host: place sw.js and manifest.json in the same folder as the HTML file, serve from any HTTP server, then install from Chrome.
No. Once downloaded, Captascreen runs entirely from your machine. No server, no cloud, no account required during a presentation.

Two exceptions: Google Fonts load on first open for correct typography (falls back to system sans if offline), and PDF imports use a CDN-hosted renderer on first use. After that, everything is local and offline.
Yes — and your data moves with you. In Lite, open the editor, go to Data and Backup, and click Export JSON. In Pro, open the editor, go to Data and Backup, and click Import JSON. All projects, images, and talk points transfer in one step.
If your presentation is image-based — portfolio work, photography, visual research — Lite is complete. If you present PDFs, run video in meetings, need to show a live URL, or work in a content-diverse environment, Pro is the right tool. Both are free. There's no reason not to try Pro.
A Progressive Web App installs from a URL and runs like a native application — its own window, its own dock icon, no browser chrome, works offline. Visit the hosted URL in Chrome, click Install, done. No App Store, no review, no distribution friction.

Share the URL with anyone. They install their own copy in two clicks. It never requires your involvement again.

Generate Hosted Version exports a single self-contained HTML file with all content baked in. Upload it, share the URL. They open a browser — no account, no software, no instructions required. The hosted version has no editor and no controls beyond presenting.
